Vivid and interesting animations may better captivate the audience. Animations can clearly present abstract ideas and concepts. We have excellent illustrators and animators. The illustrators use brushes to recount stories to clients. From designing characters, to setting the scenes, and then to colouring, every step must be taken ingeniously. After that, the animators will bring the animations to life with realistic movement.

We have the most professional animation production team to create the most creative animation for you!

Types of Animation

Animation accompanied us as we grew up. Everyone should feel familiar with some animations. However, most people do not possess knowledge about various types of animations. There are many benefits to use animations for business promotion. For instance, there is no limitation in creativity and even pigs might fly. Complicated and abstract concepts can be expressed with animations. Casting, locations and weather do not restrain illustrators and animators from producing animations. This also keeps the costs down. Based on the production methods and purposes, animations are typically categorized into the following types:

3D Animation

↑ 3D animation for Jet Stapler Eagle

We make use of different techniques in modelling, lighting, texture mapping, kinematics and particle effects to produce 3D animations, by means of professional computers with 16-core processors. The effects produced are lively and full of life.

2D Animation

↑ The “10 Lessons in Money Management” animated series for Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants

The illustrators design the characters, set the scenes, decide the colours, and develop storyboards, to enable the clients to preview the final animated effects. Subsequently, the animators will bring the animations to life with realistic movement.

Hand-drawn Animation

↑ HKUST School of Science

Hand-drawn animations are comprised of frames which are drawn by hand. The use of different styles of strokes and lines enables audience to feel as if they were enjoying the painter’s live drawing performance.

↑ Cityline (Hong Kong) Limited

Infographic is a typical type of animations. Its presentation and lines are relatively simpler. Infographic can elaborate more on the content and information within a limited period of time.

Engineering Animation

↑ Engineering Animation for Tai Po Water Treatment Works of Water Supplies Department

Engineering animation comprise engineering technologies, data and BIM (Building Information Modeling) files, which are more complicated and abstract. By using 3D engineering animations, clients can convey messages more effectively to the audience. Therefore, 3D animations play an important role in producing high-quality engineering animations.

Animation Production Process

Different production houses may have different procedures and methods in producing animations. However, the fundamental principles are similar. Traditional animation production process can be divided into three phrases, including the overall pre-production planning phrase, production phrase of designing and 3D modelling, and post-production phrase. These phrases will be explained in detail.

Overall Pre-production Planning Phrase

The pre-production phrase, including designing the characters, setting the scenes and colouring, is vital to the production of animations. Without adequate preparation, it is impossible to produce a high-quality animation.

Our animation pre-production workflow includes:

  • Having meetings between the production team and the client
  • Developing a work schedule
  • Writing the outline and detailed script for the animation
  • Designing the characters
  • Setting the scenes
  • Making the storyboard or visual board

Production Phrase of Designing and Modelling

Having designed the characters, set the scenes and written the detailed scripts, the illustrators begin drawing animated images, colouring and making fine adjustments. The illustrators will also make final amendments in accordance with the clients’ comments. Eventually, the animated images are completed.

Our animation drawing and 3D modelling workflow includes:

  • Drawing animated pictures for each of the scenes
  • Working with 3D modelling, skeleton rigging and skinning
  • Providing texture mapping
  • Using lighting
  • Producing particle effects
  • Producing hand-drawn effects
  • Inputting BIM files

Animation Post-production Phrase

Having drawn the still images, the animators bring the animations to life with realistic movement. Based on the requirements stated on the scripts, the animators will add refined motions and visual effects to different layers of the images. After that, the images will undergo the rendering process, resulting in lively and realistic animations. As a final remark, the editing team will add sound effects and subtitles, and assemble background music.

Our animation post-production workflow includes:

  • Setting the keyframes
  • Adding motions
  • Adding special visual effects
  • Rendering
  • Dubbing and assembling background music
  • Lip-syncing by voice actors or narrators
  • Adding subtitles
  • Outputting the animations in compliance with the client’s designated formats
