Video Objective

The primary purpose of this video is to promote the brand image of the HKICPA, helping the public understand that accounting is not just about managing enterprise accounts, but also about establishing a fair and transparent economic environment. By visualizing concepts, the video enables a wider audience to appreciate the daily work and professional spirit of accountants, strengthening the professional image and fostering the overall development and enhancement of the accounting industry in Hong Kong.

At the same time, the video uses a concise and powerful story framework to demonstrate how accountants assist businesses and society in managing risks and complying with regulations, thereby creating a healthy and orderly business environment in Hong Kong. It also seeks to attract young talent to join the accounting profession.

Challenges in Creating the Video

During the production process, the team faced several challenges:

  • Translating Professional Content into Layman’s Terms: The accounting profession uses many technical and abstract terms. How to translate complex financial regulatory processes and accounting standards into accessible and engaging content was a major challenge. The production team needed to avoid being too dry or overly simplified, striving to balance professionalism with approachability.
  • Conveying Multiple Messages Within a Limited Duration: With limited video length, it was necessary to effectively integrate various messages about the Institute’s functions, market influence, and industry appeal within just a few minutes, ensuring that viewers quickly understood key points while leaving a lasting impression.
  • Balancing Animation Style with Professional Image: The team needed to guarantee that the animation style was lively and engaging to attract a younger and non-professional audience, while maintaining the Institute’s serious and authoritative image—a significant visual language balancing act.
  • Combining Emotional Resonance with Value Transmission: Beyond imparting knowledge, the video also needed to build emotional connections so viewers could feel the positive social impact of the accounting profession, inspiring recognition and respect.

Solutions

Visual Media Limited employed several creative and technical methods to overcome these challenges:

  • Storytelling and Segment Narrative Structure
The team structured the script into three parts: an opening to capture attention, a middle section clearly presenting professional roles, and a conclusion to reinforce brand image. This arrangement effectively guided viewers through the video’s rhythm to gradually understand the role and value of accountants.
  • Animation Design Combining Professionalism and Approachability
The animation style features clean lines with detailed character depiction, complemented by appropriate color schemes, creating a professional yet warm visual feel. This allowed the video to introduce light-hearted and easily understandable interactive elements within a businesslike environment.
  • Bilingual Subtitles and Emphasis on Key Messages
The video included both Chinese and English subtitles to broaden its audience. Key information is highlighted with clear on-screen text to enhance message reception, ensuring viewers quickly grasp core content.
  • Use of Data and Case Examples
The video incorporates real cases and statistical data, increasing the persuasiveness and credibility of the content and helping viewers form rational understandings.
  • Cross-disciplinary Team Collaboration and Iterative Refinement
Throughout production, the team worked closely with HKICPA experts to ensure content was both accurate and accessible to the general public. Multiple rounds of revisions resulted in the desired presentation.
