Central Waterfront Shared Cycling Path Project - Enhancing Urban Transit and Promoting Sustainable Mobility

Purpose

The Hong Kong government is committed to optimizing the urban traffic environment and promoting sustainable modes of transportation. A shared cycling path network is currently being established along the Central Waterfront, which, unlike traditional bike lanes separated from pedestrian paths, will allow both pedestrians and cyclists to share the same pathway. This arrangement aims to make more efficient use of the area’s recreational land and waterfront, enhance the integration of bike routes with the surrounding environment, and improve the connectivity of the waterfront.

Challenges

This project faces several challenges. One of the main challenges is how to communicate the project’s goals, benefits, and usage to the public, as well as how to increase public awareness and support for the shared cycling path.

Solution

We produced a promotional video for the Hong Kong government to introduce the Central Waterfront Shared Cycling Path Project to the public. Our team worked closely with relevant government departments to thoroughly understand the project’s objectives and messages, ensuring that the video accurately conveyed the government’s intentions and expectations.

Our video featured beautiful shots and smooth editing to showcase the scenery and convenience of the Central Waterfront shared cycling path. Through compelling visuals and engaging narration, we successfully conveyed the following information:

  • Project Goals: The Development Bureau initiated a vision for a harmonious bicycle pathway along the northern waterfront of Hong Kong Island. The Civil Engineering and Development Department transformed a one-kilometer section of the waterfront promenade from Pier 10 to the west side of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre into a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists. This 12-month pilot project aims to allow the public to experience a shared waterfront and enable government departments to assess the impact of cycling activities on existing waterfront users, accumulating experience in design, management, and promotion.
  • Usage Methods: We clearly demonstrated how the public could use the shared cycling path, including downloading the relevant bike reservation app and adhering to necessary precautions.
  • Advantages and Benefits: We highlighted the benefits of the shared cycling path, such as convenience, environmental friendliness, health, and economic advantages, supported by real-life examples and testimonials from citizens.
  • Safety Guidelines: We emphasized the measures taken by the government to ensure user safety, as well as the road markings and relevant rules.

Contribution

The video was widely promoted on social media and official websites, garnering significant attention and support from the public. It helped increase public awareness and understanding of the Central Waterfront Shared Cycling Path Project and encouraged more people to enjoy cycling amidst the beautiful scenery of Victoria Harbour.

Through our professional filming and editing skills, our company successfully created an introductory video about the project for the Hong Kong government. This video not only educated the public about the project but also gained extensive attention and support. Our team used a professional, creative, and precise approach to convey the government’s message to the audience, highlighting the advantages and benefits of the shared cycling path and offering a new proposition for sports and leisure to the citizens of Hong Kong.
